Search for Missing, 2014

Hundreds of children, women and men go missing in cities everyday. It's a loss marked by their own families - and sometimes not noticed by anyone at all. The newspapers carry mandatory advertisements of "Missing Persons" everyday and I started to collect them. Their stories and descriptions were impersonal and generic and a reflection of modern urban societies. People are lost! In a series of 24 paintings I tried to give life to the faded, black and white, sometimes indiscernible photographs. Adding colour, recreating features, painting their clothes as described and giving dimension to this disappeared person.
